Characters: Athena, heroine from II.I.II (I'll look up her name later)
Prompt: 87. Crybaby
Word Count: 348
Summary: II.I.II's heroine is feeling a little upset and bullied...
Author's Notes: So, this is before she gets her power over wind. Obviously, I haven't paid as much attention to the Second Age as I should have, because I can't remember her name at all... Although, now that I think about it, I couldn't tell you the names of anyone in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Ages... Hmm, this is a problem...

Characters: Eric Pierce, Jake Newburg
Prompt: 70. Fag
Word Count: 213

500 Situations #1

Characters: Arou Kanavaos
Prompt: 47. Journey
Word Count: 344
Summary: Arou makes his journey through the streets of the World That Never Was to get to his final destination...
Author's Notes: Prompt 1 out of many more to come... I actually couldn't tell who the story was about because I never mention his name. I had to think about it for a second. It was either Aubrey or Arou, before reading the last paragraph, which describes Arou's tattoos...

Reflections on Life and Love

These entries are public, so anyone who happens to stumble upon them can read them. For those of you who do not know me, I have a fatal illness. It's been killing me slowly for a little over 18 years now. There is nothing any doctor can do to slow it, but there are plenty of ways to augment it and speed it up. It's highly contagious. In fact, if you're reading this, chances are that you have it as well. There is no cure except its culmination: death.

I have life.
Life is my fatal disease. Once it has begun, there's no stopping it until it reaches its end.

I have love.
Love is one of the usual symptoms of life. It is what helps to spread the disease to the next generation (more often than not). I am doing my small part to stop it from continuing another generation, and thus saving my offspring from both life and the inevitable death. Love makes itself present in many forms. The love between a parent and their child. This love is a constant reminder of the illness that they both share, the child because of the parent. The love between siblings. This love is a sympathetic love. The children both realize that they are doomed from the same source and bond from that shared experience. The love between friends. Another form of sympathetic love, friendship reaches out to others doomed from different sources, yet the same end. And finally, the love of a couple. Most of the time, this is a selfish, vindictive love. Unhappy with the realization that they themselves are doomed, a couple will spread the disease to the next generation by procreating. More often than not, they succeed. However, there are some couples who fight the illness and stop it from spreading. These couples refuse to procreate, either by choice or medical issue or simply the fact that they are both of the same gender...

Life and love. Two main components of existence in the physical world. You cannot have one without the other. Indeed, life and love are interchangeable. Life is love. To live is to love. To live is to love. We are living creatures, therefore we are loving creatures. And just as we suffer in the physical world to gain eternal life, we also gain eternal love. Love never fails, and therefore, life never fails.

Affirmations

I believe that we are the change we wish to see in the world. I believe We All Are One in the world. I believe that separation and disunity are illusions. I believe that everyone is a co-creator, and thus a god or goddess, of the world around them. I believe the smallest change can make a difference. I believe that the small changes by everyone will become the big change.

I believe in love. I believe in its healing power. I believe there is nothing more important than loving everyone. I believe in love that crosses gender, age, race, creed, and societal barriers. I believe everyone has the duty to love. I believe that the memory of lying in your lover's arms will be with you forever. I believe that memories are never a replacement for the real thing. I believe that love survives even after physical death. I believe spiritual death is impossible.

I believe that we will see the end of war in our lifetime. I believe that we must facilitate that end. I believe that everyone has the ability to be a peacemaker as long as they put their mind to it. I believe that we are not of this world, for we are all spiritual beings in a physical world. I believe in the non-existence of death.

Writer's Block: Redoing Nature's Color Palette

If you could manipulate the color schemes of nature, what things in nature would you change the color of? What would you change them to?

Nature is, within itself, beautiful. But by recoloring nature, more opportunities for beauty can arise. Combine the brilliant reds and oranges of the finest sunset with the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. Take the water's light aquamarines and deep navy blues and give them to the furious explosion of raw, molten earth that is a volcano. Picture it, luminescent teal lava, bursting through the fuchsia crust of the earth, the neon green dust clouds blanketing the nearby ground. As the dust cloud grows, people on the other side of the world can savor the beauty of a emerald and sapphire sunset, the sky ablaze with blue...

No regrets is a lie.
For this pain that burns inside
Is overwhelming, and I try to hide.
But I can't and I worry that
Sometimes my pride
Sets me up to do or die.

Yet the truth is, I care
Even though I can't be there.

If I stayed you would be hurt.

And I know that you can't tell.
You don't understand that this is hell.
But it kills me and burns me
As it twists and it turns me

I broke your heart,
You broke me down
Karma's a bitch:
What goes, comes 'round.

The fault lies on me.
I was too blind to see
That the lies would eventually
Catch up and I would be
Lying dying on the ground trying
To make things right, but it ends tonight
I should get out of your sight
Because this isn't right.
You have your own life to live,
Your own love to give, and it's not mine
We can keep on trying, but in the end, we're lying.

The lie is in the smile
We try to make it seem worthwhile.

Romance

Romance is a curious thing. When two people are in like (and I use that term purposefully, because as we think of it as love, it becomes clichéd and the ending is always inevitably disappointment), they act as though they went back 5 years, regressing back to their childish behaviors. And yet, there is a certain playfulness, an unexpected and uncharted, yet pleasant, surprise involved. To allude to a famous author, weasel! This spontaneity is what separates like from the other word. Like is brief, love takes a lifetime. It is not possible to fall in love in a month, or even a year. Not is it possible to "fall" in love, as though it is accidentally stumbled upon, a shiny trinket on the side of the road of life. It requires a lifetime to grow to truly, fully, and completely love another human being. Expecting love to happen virtually overnight is not only over-optimistic but rash and foolish, displaying ignorance for the whole world to see.

Clouds

Let us, for a moment, examine clouds. The word invokes images of large, white masses of cotton balls. However, clouds can also carry with them the threat of precipitation, thus proving that appearances alone are not a worthy judge. Or does it say just the opposite, for who has ever seen rain from a white, wispy cloud? Does not rain fall from the dark imposing thunderheads?
And what about the shape of a cloud? It could be an airplane, a bunny, a boat, or a dinosaur, all at the whim of children's imagination. They can give clouds personalities; that dark gray cloud is bullying the timid windblown puff. But wait! Mr. Tuff Fluff will save the day! And thus, the epic battle ensues, light cloud versus dark, a match made in the heavens and directed by the blowing winds. Mr. Fluff prevails, and the crowd goes wilds, light's avatar having won.
But the playfulness of children vanishes, and they are, once again, merely clouds.
